Center for Obesity and Treatment

The UCSD Center for Obesity and Health is an interdisciplinary program involving researchers and clinicians at UCSD. The overall goal of the UCSD Center for Obesity and Health is to ultimately help people who are struggling with their weight and eating. The mission of the Center for Obesity and Health is to improve individual and population health by developing and disseminating treatments for obesity through interdisciplinary research, education, and community outreach. We integrate the newest research to create and provide the empirically based treatments for obesity for adults, teens and youth.

The UCSD Center for Obesity and Health has clinical programs, research programs and community outreach for children, adolescents and adults. The Center was founded by two experts in the field of weight and eating: Dr. Jeffrey Schwimmer, an expert in medical co-morbidities associated with overweight and Dr. Kerri Boutelle, a psychologist specializing in behavioral treatments for youth and adults with weight and eating issues.
